Mgahinga national park stands as Uganda’s smallest national park, it is part of the great Virunga volcanic region stretching from Rwanda and the democratic republic of Congo, the forested areas is comprised of mountains that are shared with the other neighboring states including Mountain Muhabura, Mountain Sabinyo and Mountain Gahinga after which it is named, in the local traditional language the name ‘Gahinga’ means a pile of stones collected from the farm lands, on our 3 days Golden monkey tracking safari, you will be taken to spot one of the endemics of the Virunga, in Uganda this is the only place one can see golden monkeys.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Mgahinga national park

On this day our guide will pick you from our agreed point meet, greet and transfer to Mgahinga national park towards the western part of Uganda, we will pass through amazing villages and small towns along the Kigezi highlands, the winding hills f tea plantations are not to miss either, it all looks like a dream and yet reality, the journey takes approximately +/-9 hours drive to arrive at the destination for dinner and staying overnight at

Day 2: Golden monkey tracking and Batwa community experience.

Following an early breakfast, our guide will transfer you to the park headquarters s for a morning briefing we will be guided through the trails to have a chance to see the Golden monkeys(Ceropithecus Kandti) it is a unique primate kind restricted to the great Albertine rift valley region, it is characterized by their golden brown color with a dash of black in it, they seem to always have their cheeks filled with feeds, they mostly live in the bamboo forest and at lower altitude zones which makes it much easier to see, it takes 2-3 hours in search of the primates, we will return for a hot lunch and an afternoon Batwa experience, it is amazing by how much these people used to survive in the forest, they will present their songs, show you how they hunted from the forest, returning to the lodge for dinner and staying overnight at

Day 3: Departure

On this day we will have breakfast, after which we will return to Kampala or Entebbe for departure as we say goodbye to the country that has been home for some days
