1 Day Mabamba Swamp

Mabamba swamp is one of Uganda’s key birding points it is a famous spot to see the critically endangered shoebill stock, the marshes and papyrus rides of the swamp have got a proper location near uganda’s largest Lake Victoria it is also known as the “Lake Nalubaale” traditionally, the swamp is a Ramsar site and an important birding area having plenty of species including some that migrate globally, the swamp is one of the most sought of areas by birders that come to Uganda, over 300 bird species have been recorded here to date, the swamp is filled with lungfish a major food item for the shoebill

Our 1 Day tour to Mbamba swamp takes place using a wooden motorized boat, it is majorly in search of the Shoebill stock, these are threatened by fishermen around this area, they hunt for the same food Lungfish, over time nests and eggs of these birds have been destroyed and hence a reduced number, the bird is a solitary species, it only joins the rest during the mating seasons these interestingly share incubation periods to have the laid eggs hatch, the swamp is situated in Entebbe the Tour highlights birds of Uganda

Day 1: Transfer and return from Entebbe

On this day our guide representative will pick you from your accommodation after which you will be transferred to the Mabamba for your scheduled boat cruise, a guide will join you on site to assist look out for the best spots to see birds  through the several trails along the marshes expect to see many bird species including shoebill, african Jacana, sunbirds, papyrus gonelox, white winged warbler, hammerkop, african fish eagles, red eyed dove,swamp flycatcher gray crowned cranes, cormorants, pelicans to mention a few we will return to entebbe city for a  later meal and enjoy a sundowner drive along Lake Victoria returning to your respective drop of point or hotel for dinner and staying overnight .
